Have you ever had a crush on an animated character? I’m pretty sure that most people have had one. Well for me Peter Pan was one of them. I’m not sure what it was about this character that got to me, maybe it was because he was sort of a rebel or maybe it was because he could fly. I’m not so sure what it is about Peter Pan that I like so much.
Anyways I love these two characters together, Peter and Wendy. It’s just a cute and innocent combination. And is it weird to say that when I get married I’m going to have my wedding be a Peter and Wendy theme? Ya I know, I’m nuts, but I love it so much! One of my absolute favorite quotes from the book is where they first meet in Wendy’s bedroom and she asks him if she could give him a kiss. He of course doesn’t understand the meaning so she gives him a thimble to make him feel better and in return he wanted to give her a “kiss” back and in turn gives her an acorn. I just think it’s the cutest thing ever and it makes me wish that I had been given an acorn by someone.
So given my little crazy obsession with these characters I wanted to make some cute mini cakes featuring the two. I wanted to make one for Wendy, one for Peter, and one for the both of them. The one with the two of them has another one of my favorite quotes on the side (as I can’t resist a good Peter Pan quote).
“You know that place between asleep and awake, the place where you can still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting.”
I just love these three cakes and I’m super excited for the next round of a Peter Pan baking project! And trust me, I already have one in mind, as if you haven’t heard there’s going to be a live action Peter Pan film that should be coming out in the fall! Can’t wait!
